Extended Friday Hours

Good news!

We will  be extending our Friday hours in the Tasting Room on select dates for some special occasions:

  • Friday, March 31: Clio 2010 is back! The 2010 vintage was off the Tasting List for a period of time, but it's back! Try the 2010 side-by-side with the 2011.
  • Friday, April 14: Monbazillac Release! Expand your wine knowledge (and vocabulary)!
  • Friday, April 28: Calliope 2012 + 2013 Tasting. 

On these Fridays, we will be open from 12-8pm. We hope you'll be able to attend!

Release of 2015 Rosé

Our 2015 Rosé is made from Mourvèdre and Grenache. Left on the skins for 24 hours, this bright rosé begins with a lively nose of strawberry and watermelon, leading to a refreshing palate of cherry and hints of cinnamon. Order now!

Tasting Room Grand Opening

Happy Fall from Muse Vineyards! It has been a very active changing of the seasons for us as we’ve successfully navigated another harvest, bottled new wines, and have completed construction on our new Tasting Room! There is a lot happening at Muse and we can’t wait to share the experience with you.

The growing season and harvest of 2016 went quite smoothly. We were very fortunate to have favorable weather conditions from bud-break in early April through the end of harvest on October 6. We’ve recently bottled the 2015 Thalia and 2015 Chardonnay. Next bottling will be the 2013 Clio. 

Besides the successful growing season and harvest, we are also excited to announce that our Tasting Room is complete and will be open for tastings beginning Friday, November 25! The Tasting Room will be open every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 11am-5pm. 

We hope that you’ll be able to be a part of the grand opening; but in case you miss it, we look forward to hosting you another time.

Greetings Fellow Wine Lovers!

     March: It’s a time of year where we begin to say our goodbyes to the frigid weather and welcome the warmth of spring.  It is also time to celebrate our remarkable locally made Virginia wines with VA Wine and Dine Month.  And this is a wine dinner you won’t want to miss because we are finally bringing you the 2015 VA Governor’s Cup winner, Muse Vineyards.

       Muse Vineyards, a small boutique winery in Woodstock, is dedicated to the production of world class grapes based on the French domaine system that produces the outstanding wines of Bordeaux and the Rhone Valley.  Muse plants Bordeaux varietals as well as grapes that are not widely grown in the state such as Rhone varietals Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre and Roussane.  All work in the vineyard is carefully accomplished by hand because they believe great wine is made not in the winery but in the vineyard. Respectively, every step of the winemaking process is done on site with commitment to the artisanal principles of traditional winemaking.

     On a whim, owners Robert Muse and Sally Cowal decided to enter their 2009 Bordeaux blend in the VA Governor’s Cup Competition.  Not only did it win gold, it was selected for the Governor’s Cup Case and was proclaimed the top wine of the competition.  Tasting all of their wines was truly a treat and simply stated, Muse is making world-class wines.  Their structure, complexity, balance and finesse are incredible.  You have to taste them to believe it!

     We are so proud to have such amazing vineyards right here in the Shenandoah Valley and are excited to be featuring Muse Vineyards at our upcoming dinner.  We hope you’ll wine and dine with Emilio’s and Muse Vineyards this March!

Fresh Flounder Almondine served with a Beurre Blanc

Course 2:

Butter lettuce, strawberry, melon, ham and crispy brie crouton with house made strawberry vinaigrette

Grilled chicken and Italian cheese ravioli in a creamy brown butter sage sauce

Free Tasting, Saturday February 13

Come by Muse this coming Saturday, February 13, from noon to 5pm for a free tasting. Come by and get your special bottle for Valentine’s Day! We will be featuring the new 2014 Rose as well as the new 2014 Chardonnay and the 2012 Calliope. All award winning wines!

Forbes Magazine Loves Muse Wine

Dear Friends of Muse,

 

Happy New Year to all. Although this is traditionally the quiet time in the vineyard, because we are expanding with somenew varietals (Teroldago, a lovely Italian grape we got to sample on our recent trip to Italy) and new acreage it continues to be busy here. 

And the winery is hopping too. We have four new wines to launch: Chardonnay 2014, Rose 2014, Calliope (grenache) 2012 and our new white wine Muse, Thalia 2014, a delicious blend of Marsanne and Roussanne. At our tasting next Saturday January 16, we'll be sampling at least a couple of these. A few openings remain so let us know if you'd like to come. We'll be open from Noon to 5 pm. 

We were very pleased to have wine blogger and expert Richard Leahy say that Clio 2010 was his very favorite Virginia wine for 2015! According to Richard,

The 2009 vintage of this wine won the 2015 Governor's Cup and it wouldn't surprise me if this wine won in 2016. It's a very different style from that wine though to match the ripe, rich and warm character of the 2010 vintage. Opaque, almost black in color, the nose is complex with ripe black fruits, rich oak tones and hints of herbs, pepper and clove.....this is my favorite red wine of the year and is on a par with any other Virginia wine I've tasted.

October is Virginia Wine Month

We were honored to be invited to an event hosted by Governor McAuliffe declaring October as Virginia Wine Month. Six wineries were invited to the event. We poured our Governor's Cup winning 2009 Clio as well as our 2009 Chardonnay.
